On July 31, 2001, Shawn and I arrived in Mito, Japan to start working as assistant English teachers. Then on July 31, 2004 we returned to America and started our family. Japan changed us in so many ways. We feel so blessed to have had three years worth of experiences in Japan. We met so many amazing people and gained some friendships that will last a lifetime.
It's unbelieveable to think that we've actually been back in America for four years now--that's longer than the three years we lived in Japan. But in our seven years of marriage, the three years that we lived in our Japanese apartment is still the longest we've lived in one place. Amazing, huh?

they are so cute in the jinbeis... Japan was a great adventure!
Love the shirt Shawn. Initially, I thought it was some kimono number, but closer inspection revealed it was a Hawaiian shirt!
We have just been back from NZ 3 weeks so this post resonates with me. I don't know what to say that doesn't sound super mushy and lame b/c I'm still overly emotional. Just glad you have a day to commemorate and remember your Japan days.
Rock the Free the World with some Japan action! We full on need to put a little somethin' somethin' reunion on in 2010! In?
Lj
A reunion sounds great Lj. We totally need one since no one volunteered to get married this year. Start the ball rolling and we'll see how many jump on board.
