We had this scrumptious meal for dinner the other night. It has become one of Shawn's recent favorites, and the good news it is SUPER easy. It's a make ahead freezer recipe--love those! The pork chops bake for about 45-60 minutes so baked potatoes pair perfectly with it. Which means even less fuss for dinner. Something extra like a salad or green beans and I'm done! Well, with the prep part that is. There's always the dishes to do afterward. Boo for dirty dishes!
So here's the recipe. I got this from the cookbook, Fix, Freeze, Feast by Katie Neville and Lindsay Tkacsik.Turkish Pork Loin Chops (with bacon....mmmm)
1 Costco sized tray (6-8 lbs, or 12 chops) boneless pork loin chops
1/4 cup Turkish seasoning
12-15 slices of bacon
toothpicks
2 one gallon freezer bags, labeled
Homemade Turkish Seasoning: 1 Tablespoon salt, 1 Tablespoon garlic granules, 1 Tablespoon ground cumin, 2 teaspoons black pepper, 2 teaspoons dried oregano, 1 teaspoon dried cilantro, 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
To Prepare: 1. Rinse and trim chops as desired. 2. Rub about 1 teaspoon of Turkish seasoning over the surfaces of each chop. Wrap one or more slices of bacon around the edge of each chop, securing with toothpicks. 3. Place wrapped chops on a rimmed baking sheet and place in freezer for 1 hour. (Or forget about them in there for a couple of days like I've done before!) Divide froze chops evenly among the freezer bags. To [try to] avoid puncturing the bags, you might want to double-bag the chops. 4. Seal and return to the freezer.
To Cook: 1. Place chops in an ungreased baking dish. (Cause you know those chops are gonna grease that dish just fine on their own!) Cover and completely thaw in the refrigerator. 2. Preheat oven to 350*F. 3. Bake chops, uncovered, for 45-60 minutes, or until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of a chop reads 160*F.
I usually cook 2 of these monster chops for our family of 4. But I've also cut the chops in half when I prepared them for others or just to have some 1/2 chops as options.
Give this recipe a try if you like. It's really great and I'd say pretty easy on the prep day as well as the cooking day. Bon appetite!

Sounds good! I'm sure Eric will be drooling as soon as he sees the bacon. I'll have to give this one a shot in the near future.
My wife knows me well. As soon as I saw the pic, I said, "Ooh, bacon...I want the recipe." And there it was when I read further. We will definitely have to try that sometime. Sharon thinks I'm predictable, but really, what isn't better when it's wrapped in bacon? I did not drool, however.

Mmmm looks good. Love, MOM
Sounds good, I should try them.
Yum! That looks good. And your picture looks like it should go in a professional cookbook!
Yes, nice pictures. =)
