First Snow

Yesterday, we woke up to find a few inches of snow covering everything. I was a bit surprised to see such a blanket before Halloween. Fortunately, it's melting quickly and won't last too long. Of course it won't be the last snow storm--it's only the first. And actually we got a bit more snow overnight and had some fresh white stuff to drive to church in. So to date we've actually had two snow storms now. I'm just thankful that the snow is not here to stay completely yet. I know it will come soon enough, but a few more weeks of "fall" will be nice. Hopefully the slush will go away by Halloween, because that will be yucky for trick-or-treating.

We managed to get a little time to play in the snow on Saturday. Even though we were dealing with a major landscaping change. That's right we had our trees cut down on Saturday too. I still have to take some "after" photos, but let me just say, "let there be light" and "football field"! Those are the two phrases that come to mind when I look out into our yard now. The difference it quite amazing. More on that later. For now enjoy the pictures of us enjoying the snow. Carly was especially excited to play out in the snow and spent a lot of time outside.
And yes, those are pink boots on Isaac. He had to borrow Carly's old ones since I haven't found him any yet. I wasn't quite expecting snow just yet. I thought we had a few more weeks. You may have noticed that Isaac doesn't look all that happy in these pictures. He was actually happier than these pictures made it look. But Shawn said, "Well I wouldn't be very happy if you put me in pink snow boots either."

And this is Carly with Knoxville, Lee's German Shorthair. Lee officially moved up here last Monday and is staying with us until he can get settled. He starts his new job with the Juneau PD tomorrow. I'm taking the kids with me to the department for his swearing in ceremony. Hope that goes well--especially that my kids don't make a fuss in the middle of it all. Anyway, Carly has really enjoyed playing with Knox. And they both had fun in the snow.
And if you read the last post about the preschool playgroup, here's the answer. I had just asked them how many kids there were. Carly was busy counting all the kids. We came up with five which was perfect for our story about 5 little pumpkins.

I hadn't heard that Lee got the job, that'll be nice to have some family close by! The snow looks so pretty! We wouldn't be ready for snow yet either, we got Wesley a new winter coat, but thats it so far!
