PreSchool Playgroup

These pictures are actually from last Wednesday--boy has this last week flown by! Every Wednesday, Carly is a part of a rotating play group with some other preschoolers from church. Once a month, I host it and the other three weeks the other stay-at-home moms take turns hosting. The kids bring their lunch boxes and get some play time as well as a structured educational time. Last week, I wanted to do something with pumpkins since it's that time of the year. So I discovered a book on the library catalog that sparked my interest. The book wasn't available, so I thought I'd just google the title and see what came up. It turns out the book was based on a poem and I found a great website with handouts that went along with it, including colored visuals for telling the poem. And even better we had five preschoolers--one for each pumpkin! (Olivia was watching Gilian from church that day too, so I invited her to join.) Each kid got to take home a mini book of the poem that they colored and a small pumpkin. I was originally thinking that they could decorate their pumpkins, but then I realized that the best way to do it would be to use either sharpies or paint. And the thought of either of those two art supplies and five preschoolers made me chicken out pretty fast.

Also a big thanks to Shawn for taking these pictures for me. He had just come home from working all night and he very yawningly agreed to take some pictures on his way to bed.
Putting up the pumpkins during the retelling of the poem. And yes that is a cookie sheet. It was the biggest "canvas" that I had handy to put my magnet backed pictures on.
This was actually the first picture that Shawn took. I had just asked them a question to start things off. Look at Carly and see if you can figure it out. I'll update this post later and reveal the question. Also, swimming lessons are going well. Carly has #6 tomorrow night! Only 8 total so we're getting down near the end.
The craft fair went pretty well this last weekend too. I sold 8 hooded bath towels. Not as many as before, but I think it was pretty good for this time of year. Dana and I are thinking about selling in the upcoming fairs before Christmas. That's definitely when I sold the most last year. We'll see. I'm currently working on a blog to sell my towels and some painted tee shirts on. When I get a little more on it, I'll share the address with you all.
Good night!

I think she is counting to see how many children you have in preschool today? I guess I'll check back later and see if I'm right. Also Justus still talks about that day. He really had a great time. However I have been a bad mom and not wanted to let him color his pumpkin with sharpies.
