This blog post has been sitting in my drafts folder for four days now, so it's definitely time to get it submitted into blogland. We have been so busy the past few days. Over the weekend we sponsored, chaperoned, and led devotionals for our church's youth group on our annual fall retreat. It was fun, but a lot of work. I was pretty wiped out when it was all said and done.
Then yesterday, was Alaska Day. A day we Alaskans celebrate the transfer of ownership of our state from Russia to The United States back in 1867. The actual transfer was done in Sitka and we visited the historical park this past June when we went to Sitka to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Our little family celebrated Alaska Day with a hearty pot of Alaskan Beef Chili--also know as moose chili. :-)
Here's some photos I took of the park during our visit.
Ok, back to the most important part of this post, a food item loaded with cinnamon and sugar. A little while ago, I talked about wanting to make something sensational after my oven was repaired. It needed to be more impressive than the final item I baked before the problem started that made my oven imoperable for nearly two weeks. Since that final item was chicken nuggets I knew it would be easy to outdo it, but I decided to make something that I'd been wanting to try just for fun and without worrying about having a purpose for making it.
Enter Cinnamon Sugar Pull Apart Bread. I had seen this recipe pop up on several blogs over the summer and I wasn't the only one. Once when I was spending time at my sister-in-law's house she was prepping her dough for this very recipe. She opted to adapt it with a sourdough dough rather than the sweet bread dough, but being that I have a dangerous sweet tooth, I kept with the original version.

Alaskans eat well. You make us hungry Rachel. Thanks for the post. It is good to be back home and in touch with our wonderful grandchildren. Love, Grandmom and Grandad
