A few weeks ago, I was able to celebrate the arrival of a sweet baby girl into our church family. She is the first girl born from within our church family in two years. Since that time we've had NINE baby boys born. So as you can imagine a baby shower with pink and flowers was a welcome change from the marathon of blue and dump trucks that we had going for nearly two years. Oh don't get me wrong, all our boys are wonderful and they will surely enjoy many fun father-son camping trips in the future, but a little sugar and spice is always nice.
My usual baby shower gift is a homemade hooded bath towel. I've blogged about making them for my annual craft fair booth just before Christmas. (Check this post if you like.) And they continue to be a great selling item year after year. But I learned that the talented and crafty aunt of this sweet baby girl had already made a similar version of a hooded bath towel for her. I took that news and decided it meant I could spread my wings and try making a different baby item. I had plenty of ideas, but settled on some cute baby bibs. The best part about these bibs is that I just made them. I traced a bib that we had to give myself a loose pattern shape and printed an "a" to use as a monogram shape, but that was about it. I was able to make both of these without following any kind of pattern or instructions. That may not sound too exciting for some, but I'm usually very particular about following directions when it comes to sewing (and other things too, I suppose). So for me, making these without a real pattern or any directions, felt like I was truly creating something--even if it was a basic bib.
Not the greatest picture, but I was really please with how they turned out and hope to make a few more soon. Maybe they will find themselves sitting on a craft fair table next to some terry cloth in a few months.
And on another note, we are just days--even hours--away from Halloween. Our first first celebration is tonight and there are still preparations to be made--costumes and sweet treats to be finished. I thought it would be fun to give you a peek into my thoughts on these preparations and then reveal the details on Halloween. So for now all you'll get is this:
Let your mind wander and see what you come up with...if you like. More details will be coming soon. Have a great day and great Halloween celebrations.

Those are really cute! Hey, Mia wears bibs ;) Way to be crafty. I wonder what other projects you can add to your bizarre booth?
The bibs look great. I should make some for a baby girl's shower coming up here. Thanks for the idea. --Love MOM
