Whale Watching Tour

We went out intending to salmon fish the other night, and were surprised and thrilled to have a fantastic humpback whale show. I actually saw one do a full breach, but unfortunately I didn't have the camera ready. Later in the evening, I also saw one do a half breach with just the back half of the body.
Every time any fin, tail, back or even a puff of breath was visible, we all had open, awed eyes out on the water. I really didn't know what Shawn was doing with his fishing, because I was constantly watching the water. There were at least three humpback whales in the area, and one got about 150 yards from us. It was truly amazing. Unfortunately we didn't get any salmon (Shawn did catch a bottom fish that he threw back), but it was still a fantastic night. Beautiful weather, water, and creations of God.

This one is a little bit small and hard to see. You can click on the picture to make it bigger to see it better. It shows the fin from one of the whales sticking straight up, ready to slap the water.

Looks like you all had an enjoyable evening. I love the whale pictures. I have never seen a whale breach that would have been amazing to see. Fun family memories.

Looks like fun. How is Isaac doing on the boat? I remember everyone was wondering how he would do and if he was going to be hard keep from running around.

Isaac is doing pretty well on the boat. Our first time out was a bit rough, but after that he seemed to learn that he can't just pick stuff up and throw it overboard. Fortunately, that lesson only cost us about $10.
I think he's getting used to what's expected of him like sitting up on the bench seat when we're underway and putting on his life jacket if he's not in the cabin. Just the little things, but they seem to be making sense in his little mind.
